Moveable Feast
An emerging community of faith rooted in the Mennonite tradition but open to all, gathering for reflection, renewal, and community building.
About the community
Meet Moveable Feast
Moveable Feast began in June 2022 as a monthly interfaith sabbath supper in the Albany Park neighborhood of northwest Chicago. The supper became an outreach to the community, welcoming atheist and agnostic folks as well as those who have been harmed by other churches but are looking for spiritual community. In August 2023 the community began gathering for Christian worship, and today it meets weekly as an ecumenical group to reflect on scripture and our faith journeys, share bread and cup, and seek restoration and renewal to continue in the work of justice and peacemaking.
Moveable Feast is wholeheartedly celebrating its queer members and leaders and the beautiful diversity of humanity, striving to dismantle racism, classism, misogyny, and all human hierarchies, and especially committed to keeping sabbath, a countercultural practice that teaches us life is more than productivity.
Pastor Celeste Kennel-Shank is the author of What You Sow Is a Bare Seed, the story of a countercultural Christian community.
