About the community
Meet Peace by the Waters
Peace by the Waters is an emerging faith community in Portland, Maine, rooted in the Anabaptist (Mennonite) tradition—but you don’t have to be Mennonite to join. Guided by Anabaptist values, the community appreciates simplicity and caring for the world and one another, values theologies of peace and the words and works of Jesus, and cares about being neighborly. Most gatherings include a meal, and children are full members of the community.
Believing that every person is made in the image of God, Peace by the Waters is committed to having no restrictions in membership, leadership, or involvement in community based on sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, class, or ethnicity.
Looking for an inclusive, Jesus-centered church in Portland or southern Maine? Peace by the Waters would love to meet you.
