About the community

Meet Grand Rapids Mennonite Fellowship

Grand Rapids Mennonite Fellowship got its start as a house church in August 2018, with five families beginning to gather weekly. The community went through an intentional discernment process together, studying the core beliefs of Mennonite Church USA, and decided it was a good fit. Drawn to Central District Conference by its strong stance on LGBTQ welcome, GRMF was introduced at the 2020 Annual Meeting as a prospective member congregation and became a full member in 2021.

GRMF is an intergenerational, Jesus-centered community committed to peacemaking and doing life together, seeking to be a place where all people experience God’s justice, peace and joy. The fellowship denounces white supremacy, pursues antiracism and liberation, and welcomes LGBTQ persons, without qualification, to full participation in its life together.

The support of the conference has been huge for us… We’re a small community, but we feel our presence as a peace church in Grand Rapids is important and we wouldn’t still be here without the support of the conference.
